Morris X5 Magneto for Generator Model Harley Davidson Sportsters and 45 Flat Heads When building a chopper, custom, or bobber you want to keep everything tight and minimal as possible. A magneto allows you to run your bike without a battery, eliminating a ton of extra wiring and components. The Morris -5 series of impulse coupled magnetos offer incredible starts. Fully automatic and compatible with kick or electric start. Here’s the secret to how they work – A spring winds up, then at the proper retarded timing moment, spring is released and magneto blasts an incredibly hot spark for starting, no matter how slow the motor is turning. Similar to our H5 Big Twin magneto, this fully automatic impulse-coupled unit slips into where the generator was. You will need to remove cam cover and replace generator idler gear with magneto drive gear. Some stock removal from a cast rib in the cases above bushing will be required. Due to it’s impulse-coupler, this unit puts out a killer spark, at retarded start timing, no matter how slow motor cranks.Fits all generator Sportsters, K models, and 45 Flatheads. (for big twins use h-5). Comes standard with a black magneto cap. All magnetos are made to order by Morris Magnetos.
